In the circle! [OC restaurants]
RESTAURANT:
Citrus City Grille
LOCATION:
122 N Glassell St
Orange, CA 92856

Kendall and I went on one of our lovely roomie dates to our usual place- Citrus City Grille :). There are A LOT of delicious restaurants in the orange circle [the famous round-about here in orange where the forest gump bench is, numerous antique shops, as well as where many of the scenes in that thing you do were shot!] But, one of our favorites has to be citrus city! There mushroom meetloaf is amazing, and one of their specialties is their chocolate souffle which is to die for! Piera- you would be in heaven! It is a little more expensive but definitely worth it!
happy eating!

who cut the cheese?
Good morning/afternoon/evening, whatever time zone you're in this (not so) fine monday.
I am stuck in Wisconsin. For 6 hours. Thunderstorms in NYC, so many people here waiting for their next escape to the East Coast and New England. Only sign of cheese here: a cheddar cheese magnet. Is this not the state of cheese?! I'm appalled, slightly delusional from lack of sleep counterbalanced with a latte I just downed.
A sign you've spent too much time in the MidWest? When a t-shirt that says
"Nothing tips better than a cow"
Makes you laugh out loud, when you're all by yourself.
The embarrassment...

Birthday Bash; Ned Devines

Boston Recommendation: Ned Devines
Bar/Club
Ned Devines
1 Faneuil Hall Market Pl
Boston, MA 02109-6117
(617) 248-8800
Good place to celebrate a friend's birthday or go and dance/hangout. This bar/club is a 2 story venue, with a main bar on the bottom, and a DJ and live cover band upstairs accompanied by another bar. Good for a friday night!
There's a cover on Friday nights after 10:30pm, about $5.
In general good music and all college students.
Orange Line (to state street) or Blue line (to government center)
Life:
Super hectic. I'm enrolled in 4 classes (2 senior seminars, learning and behavioral psychology, and intro to biology to satisfy a science requirement. The psyc and bio class should be fine, but the seminars are art history ones. 3 hours long once a week and boring, with a TON of reading.
I arrived last Monday, and it was snowing. Snowed through Tuesday, so now everything is white but it is slowly melting. My housemates are in the middle of building an igloo in our back yard. If it's ever finished, they're hoping to put a fire pit in the middle of it. ironic/odd? yes, i think so.
Off to read 7 books about Michelangelo (oy)!
best,
P

the sun isn't even up.
class starts in 2.5 hours and I have to pack and finish my project. and shower and wash my hair which takes about three days to complete itself. ALWAYS waiting till the last minute!

William Eggleson
I love photography but I don't know if being a photographer is in the cards for me...especially coming after such amazing people, like William Eggleston or Guy Bourdin for example...
Ali, Emma, and I (mostly Ali and Emma until I'm home) are getting super inspired and excited to do some stuff. I will attempt yet again to make a video. Ali made one over break, although amazing, it didn't go too well over with everyone else.
New York City is turning blue now which means I think the sun is about to rise and I should take my shower.

Just The Same But Brand New
Still so rainy in LA, its funny everyone here overreacts when the weather changes. We are all so spoiled when it comes to the weather, even the streets overreact and flood!
Today was my day off, I woke up late and got breakfast and Coffee Bean with my Mom. After lattes and waffles we went to this kitchy little boutique on Topanga Canyon and Dumetz. We bought really unique rings. I bought a cheetah head ring and a really big ring that takes up most of my finger...way awesome.
When ever it rains I turn into a homebody, so that's what I was today. I watched movies with my Mom and sat by the fire while the sky opened up and poured water. I actually really enjoy spending time with my Mom she's amazing.
I also did some really good planning with Emma and D today! I can't wait to get everything together and show you all!
Love,
Ali

ginger going nuts.
this is a great video of a ginger boy who doesn't like being called ginger. or fat. even though he is both ginger and fat. i also have to mention that if you know this kid, he might shoot up his school in the near future so try to befriend him so when he sees you, he gives you a high five instead of pain.

Gray in L.A.
Its raining in Los Angeles.
Friday Emma and I went out to dinner, took Scout to LAX, and then went over to my friend Zachs new apartment in NOHO to hangout with some friends.
Saturday Emma and I went downtown to go shopping down Santee Alley, there's so much going on there I can't begin to explain, people yell out deals and bargains, colors,smells...its definitley a sensory overload. I saw baby bunnies and turtles and clothes for daaaaaaaaays.
Today I went to the west side and met up with my friend Anna to do some shopping. We grabbed coffee and muffins at LPQ and met up with Noah and Seb. Anna is an amazing knitter! She knit Morrissey a red toggle sweater I swear to god its beautiful! We did some shopping at American Apparel and Urban, good deals at Urban if you are wondering.
I love the rain, so I'm now in bed watching the Globes and drinking tea :)
Mmmm!
Song of the moment:
Heartbeats (the knife cover)- Jose Gonzales.

I am OBSESSED with this song off of Colbie Calliat's CD called "I tried".
I seriously can't stop listening to it!
I got my camera today in the mail!! So excited to use it tonight. It's a little pink sony cyber shot and it's definitely going to be put to good use when a bunch of us go out. It's been a while since I've been out with all of my friends.
Smit and I got to talking about some of the very talented men in the movie industry and now I have to post one of them we talked about. I have to.

you are welcome

Foreign Substance
So today I did nothing I stayed in bed all day and watched the third season of Bones with my friend Natalia.
We left for a little to go get a really well reccomended sub sandwich from this place called Dan's Suber Subs on Ventura and Shoup. It was really good! On the way home we witnessed a shoot out (?) I don't know what to call it there were a bunch of cops pointing guns at some minority kids at a gas station. I live in Woodland Hills, this is not a normal activity, this is wierd. I laughed soo not gangster to say you got arrested....in woodland hills ahaha.

Smit's Obsession: Early Thursday Morning Edition
Yesterday I went to the Annenberg Space for Photography...

isn't is so cool looking?
...and saw the Sports exhibit they have right now. I'm not a huge fan of sports but I'm a huge fan of photography (obviously...) Recently, i've been surrounded by contact sheets...maybe this is the obsession of the moment?
I love when photographers release their contact sheets...makes me feel better to know that even the best have horrible days.

Full Thursday update on its way...I have to get back on this bandwagon.
xx,

Crawl out of my skin and under yours.
Soooo sick!
I thought I was in the clear, nope, sneeky sneeky sickness has succeded in its surprise attack on me.
Last night Danielle, P, and I went out for drinks and food with our friends Noah, Becca, and Rico at Mexicali in Studio City. After that we stopped at Fox and Hound's down the blvd. We played a short round of trivia. I actually really like that place I think were going back Wednesday to play a whole round.
Ok short post.
Going to drown in cranberry juice and mucinex.

what we are here to do
right now i am in the middle of trying to do a write-up of what The Paper Dolls L.A. is all about. Ali and i talked a lot about it last night and we have come to a few conclusions.
1. The Dolls are simply 5 girls in 5 cities all over the country
2. Three of The Dolls are about to graduate college and face the real world for the first time
3. All of The Dolls felt like we were the only ones to feel so confused and lost and scared, until we all started talking to each other this past summer and realized we're all in this together.
4. Each of The Dolls has a certain direction, talent, hobby, and their own inspirations, we feel like we represent a generation that doesnt know where to go
5. We want people our age to come together and make something amazing, just know that we are all in this together.
a more detailed and obviously interesting write-up later.
you need a solid foundation before you build...here's to 2010 being our year.
Cheers

chika-chika-REWIND
It's been about a year since I've done my duty as a doll to post. What's new in the hood? Quite a few things.
I got some cool gifts, perfume, jewelry, watch, wallet, purse, books, awesome water bottle, and key chain adornments. But what's better is time spent with family and friends...aww!
Here's what I've been up to:
-Took a hike with some wolves! wolfcocnnection.org

-Christmas with the Fam
-Las Vegas with Evan and his family
-Saw Jersey Boys, gambled (and lost), and had the stomach flu!
-Saw New Moon (finally), and was PISSED about how bad it was.
-Saw Avatar (two thumbs up), and am seeing it again with Ali soon :)
-New Years Eve with the dolls and Evan's friends.
-Now starting to say bye to people :(
I'm pretty pissed that I forgot my camera for New Year's Eve. What pictures I do have from Vegas and other outtings are currently still on my camera and in my car, which I am too lazy to go get.
On another note: my promised Thanksgiving pictures with the fam.

My sister, baby sitting the dog we both dislike and call King Sammson, because he is treated like a king. He's a toy poodle, and not a dog, nor a boy, except he is both a dog and a boy.

That's Grandma. She's Elizabeth Taylor's twin. She loves her drank (as you can see, although sort of blurred). And yes, that is a jazzy chair. This is the Jazzy traveler, that goes with her places. The one at home she has padded with towels because she has a tendency to run into her own furniture, so it's a scratch-preventative.

Dad on the left, uncle Dave in the middle, and uncle George on the right. Dad's responsible for the turkey (this year it was 29.8lbs). Uncle Dave is the one that told me I chose to go to Brandeis because I like circumcised men (Brandeis is notoriously a Jewish school, although I'm not Jewish). George that night admitted to having a vasectomy. Needless to say he was drunk...
That's it for now folks, Smit, Ali, and I are hanging out tomorrow night, so we'll just HAVE to document it :)

bought myself a welcome mat for the new year.
Hey all, so Danielle and I have linked out blog to our very colorful new Tumblr!
Follow us if you have one:
ThePaperDollsLA.tumblr.com
(Were still messing with things on it so bear with us if our Tumbling skills aren't at expert levels just yet)
We are so excited for this year its going to be huge! We can't wait to share a new year with all of you. I can't begin to explain just hoe exciting it is to know that you read this.
Last night Lawrence cooked us girls (Maggs, P, Danielle, and I), Evan, and Maggie's friend Sara some pretty dank potatoe and ground beef tacos! Smit and I then traveled to Matt and Chris' party for a hot second before returning to Maggies. We danced, we ate, we sang, we drank obscene amounts of alchohol ( slept over ) and had a really fun time just being together.
I'm not the biggest party person so just spending time with a few really awesome people really sits well with me.
When we woke up chef Lawrence made cheese omelletes and I of course made Strawberry Poptarts with Nutella. He also let me mix the eggs. Everyone is slowly learning not to trust me in the kitchen, this is in everyones safety and best interests.
We also watched the Tournament of Roses I think the general agreement was that the bulldog float was our favorite!
Rest of the day was easy I watched the newest Harry Potter and cried at the end. Like a baby. Later Maggie and I went to Jerry's Deli and ate on some Pastrami and Bagel Chips (yumm) now a lazy evening. I think I'm going to start reading more starting with The Picture Of Dorian Gray (Oscar Wilde)
Happy new year!
What have you resolved to do?
Which was your favorite rose tournament float?
What did you do new years eve?
P.s.
I just made an excellent video will force Smit to load and post tomorrow!
Love,
Ali (L.A)
