cycle of good

before i even wright this i know that people will make fun of me. i really don't care.

so as some of you may or may not know, i have been tv-less since christmas and just can't seem to get one that works. seriously. so resorting to hulu.com seems to be the logical thing to do...i have watched all of Always Sunny, Family Guy, on to the home design shows and just watched the final episode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.

WHY DOES THIS SHOW MAKE ME CRY EVERY TIME.

it is always during the introduction of the family and the final reveal of the house that makes my eyes full of water and it cannot be controlled! it has to do with seeing people that deserve the amazing gifts they receive and you just know it is not for selfish reasons, they really do deserve it.

my mind then started to wander, and i remembered in high school piera and i were involved with a group of girls from other private schools in the area who did some stuff to help the community. for example, have a garage sale so we could afford to have underprivileged kids give their family gifts under the christmas tree...and we actually helped the kids pick out the gifts and wrap them. money was not just being sent to some organization. it was really hands on.

while being in college these past 4 years, nothing that i have done has been for the greater good of a community, or to help another person or family out. i have been very blessed in my life and it's time to return the favor. we are all girls with really big hearts and one of the main goals of The Paper Dolls LA was to show the world that 20-somethings are worth their weight in gold. we are not just self-centerd ego-driven brats. we care. and i think it's time we start to show that. even if there might be some drama along the way.

everyone should do something that helps your community. for example, i got CPR certified last year and even though that did not directly or instantaneously have an effect on someone i know that i can help someone when the time is right. it is a great feeling. maybe you can donate food, blood, or clothes to goodwill.

doing good doesn't mean making a spectacle of yourself and showing everyone how giving and caring you are, it's about helping others which in turn will make you a better person.
